Heritage or a Kentucky Agronomist, Who Influenced US Hemp Policy?

The Agricultural Improvement Act was signed into law in 2018 and entirely altered the landscape of federal hemp policy. We investigated two poles within a sphere of influence. On one side, the wife of one Farm Bill author worked with the Heritage Foundation and received a sizeable compensation. She was later nominated to the Cabinet as the Transportation Secretary. And the Domestic Policy head on Donald Trump’s first-term term Transition Team happened to be Heritage’s founder and former president. In contrast to legal hemp, though, Heritage's founder called for a public health campaign against cannabis use. On the other pole of influence, though, were Kentucky's tobacco farms and one agronomist concerned about US hemp policy.
